People with Celiac Disease cannot eat products with wheat gluten. Many processed and baked goods contain gluten, but there are many other foods that anyone with Celiac can eat. Follow these tips to eat gluten-free food and remain healthy. Add this to my Recipe Box.

Instructions

    1

Eat natural foods like fruits and vegetables. Food grown in the garden is naturally gluten-free, tasty and healthy. Fruits and vegetables can be eaten raw or cooked in various ways.

    2

Buy gluten-free bread and baked goods. Many grocery stores now carry a variety of gluten-free products. Large grocery stores often have specialty or health sections with gluten-free products.

    3

Visit the website for the Gluten-Free Diet resource. Read the gluten-free diet to find gluten-free foods, information on ingredients, nutrition information, ideas and tips.

    4

Use food substitutions for products with wheat flour. Try substituting wheat flour with brown rice flour, sweet rice flour, corn starch or potato starch. Check the glutenfreediet.ca website for more substitutions.

    5

Make your own homemade baked goods using gluten-free recipes. You can find gluten-free recipes on websites like allrecipes.com.

    6

Shop online at a gluten-free specialty store like glutino.com. They sell a variety of products made especially for people who cannot tolerate gluten in their food.

    7

Ask cooks in restaurants to provide you with gluten-free dishes. Many restaurant owners are aware of food allergies and sensitivities. Alternatives are often available.
