White Tea & Weight Loss

White Tea & Weight Loss

Diet and exercise are the only true and healthy ways to lose a considerable amount of weight. However, incorporating white tea into your daily diet could provide you with the extra boost you on your weight-loss journey. Not only does white tea promote weight loss by burning existing fat, it also prevents new fat from adhering to your body.

Adipogenesis

As reported by Nutrition and Metabolism magazine, a study conducted by German researchers concluded that the consumption of white tea drastically reduced adipogenesis. Adipogenesis is the generation of new fat cells in the body. Researchers used lab-created adipocytes (fat cells) which were dosed with white tea extract to conduct their study. According to Nutrition and Metabolism magazine, "White Tea extract is a natural source that effectively inhibits Adipogenesis and stimulates Lipolysis activity."

Lipolysis Activity

Lipolysis is the process in which the body breaks down stored fat and expels it into the blood steam. The fat is later converted into ketone bodies, which will be available as a source of energy. White tea stimulates lipolysis activity, which in turn promotes fat loss. With regular consumption of white tea, your body will steadily burn the fat stored within fat cells.

Healthier Choice

White tea contains zero calories. When you opt to drink white tea to satisfy your sweet tooth, you resist the temptation of fatty and calorie laden snacks. The naturally sweet taste will curb cravings of other sweets and will eliminate the need for seasoning tea with sugar.

Additional Health Benefits

Polyphenols are potent antioxidants which prevent the development of cancerous cells. Because white tea leaves are steamed, the polyphenols that are present during harvesting are present when consumed. Drinking white tea also preserves dental health as it prevents plaque buildup. Furthermore, due to its light hue, white tea won't stain your teeth like darker teas and coffees.

White Tea vs. Green Tea

Green tea is famous for its weight-loss benefits. Though white tea isn't widely recognized in this manner, the Chinese have used it for centuries to maintain healthy weights. According to Oprah.com, "tea is from the same plant as green tea, but it's produced in a different way." Like most teas, green tea is made from mature leaves that are withered in order to produce a dark hue and pungent taste when steeped. However, white tea is made premature leaves that have been steamed, rather than withered, to retain their moisture.
